Consonances

Festival Consonances 1991/2015
In 1991, Philippe Graffin created consonances festival in Saint Nazaire , France, with his friend, American pianist Frédéric Chiu.
Consonances was a strong part of Philippe’s work and life. It lasted twenty five years until it was closed down in 2015 .
« This was one of the first project I initiated while coming back to France after ten years spent abroad for my studies in the US and in Holland. This experience was most instructive for me in discovering the place of classical music within modern society, in this case the particularity of St Nazaire. «
Many works were commissioned to composers, forgotten works were rediscovered and some of the musical acquaintances made there are part of Philippe very essence as a musician. The whole festival programming was brought to the Wigmore hall in London.
Here is a small film about the festival, and some souvenirs.
